After Catherine Francblin and Pascal Beausse, Patrick Javault is taking the helm of the series Conversations on Art. Throughout the season, the art critic will invite artists, but also critics, writers, or philosophers to keep exploring contemporary creation and the French art scene :
FREE EXAMINATION
The public interview is not a self-evident exercise, as it borrows a little from both the examination and the performance. Still, it remains the best means to share what an encounter may be like. Sometimes the freedom of tone that can be experienced during a visit to a studio is there, sometimes the set of constraints (remaining aware of the audience, avoiding blanks) can prompt unexpected questions and new formulations. It is not simply a succession of questions and answers, but rather a space for discovery gradually emerging through different visions and interpretations of the same object. Out of personal interest, but also so that this does not look too much like a smoothly run show, I want to find out about works and artists I do not know well, or not well enough to my taste. People will say that I am taking advantage of the opportunity and they will be right. To bring fresh air and breathing space, but also to learn, a third voice will almost always join the conversation, whether the voice of an artist, a critic, a writer, or a philosopher (the list is not closed). In the course of these encounters, we will continue the exploration of the French art scene, which Catherine Francblin started a little over ten years ago.
