Zhang Yaxuan is the director of CIFA(Chinese Independent Film Archive) at Iberia Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing), a non-profit academic institution devoted to sorting, collecting, and promoting Chinese independent film. Zhang is a film critic focusing on Chinese independent film and the international film exchange projects. She contributes to several publications and organized film festivals both in China and internationally. She participated in the production of documentaries including: BINGAI( co-producer) by Feng Yan, 2007 DANS LES DECOMBRES (co-author) with Olivier Meys, 2008 WE and WEST NOT SO FAR(executive producer) by Wen Hai, 2008-2009 XIAOMAOJIA'S UNIVERSE (co-producer ) by Mao Chenyu, 2009
