After Catherine Francblin and Pascal Beausse and Patrick Javault, Anne Bonnin is taking the helm of the series Conversations on Art. Throughout the season, the art critic will invite artists, but also critics, writers, or philosophers to keep exploring contemporary creation and the French art scene.
"With our guest artists, we will obviously talk about art, ways of working and not working, works and projects. Interview, conversation: the difference is subtle. The conversation will be lighter, while the interview will be more formal and focused. It will be important to go from one to the other, at a linked and loose rhythm.
Since the aim is to enter into a work that is also a life, we will choose lateral paths instead of the big doors that the works naturally constitute. We will talk about them of course, but indirectly, taking a detour: a book, a film, an object, a memory, a personal, collective, artistic or political event, which will be means of evoking the work, entering into the genesis of a piece.
We will invite artists to do a remembering exercise and make object choices (a book, film, etc.), which will serve as milestones in our conversation. In so doing, we will survey—without any concern for chronology—the field of a production, “the expanded field” of a practice, guided by a voice and experiences, and maybe a story. It is in a somewhat decentered way that, along with our guests, we will tackle that thing, art, which we will approach from the perspective of what is not visible in the work."
