New lecture of the Invitations to the Imaginary, presented by Michel Maffesoli.
“A spiritual battle is as brutal as a battle of men” (Arthur Rimbaud [trans. Jean Nicolas], Farewell, A Season in Hell, 1873)
There is increasingly wide agreement about the saturation of the myth of Progress. Maybe also about fact that the Enlightenment has started blinking! Can we keep saying: “God is dead”? What we know for certain is that his agony is somewhat convulsive.
The disenchantment of the world seems to have had its day and, for better or for worse, a re-enchantment is underway. Thus in the balance of human stories, Prometheus is giving way to Dionysius.
To tackle all of these questions, Michel Maffesoli welcomes Jean-François Colosimo on the occasion of the publication of his new book Aveuglements: religions, guerres, civilisations (Éditions du Cerf).
