Every year since 1999, the Fondation d'entreprise Ricard Prize has been awarded to an emerging artist on the young French art scene featured in an exhibition designed by an independent curator. Awarded by a jury of art critics and collectors (friends of the Centre Pompidou, the Palais de Tokyo, the Jeu de Paume...), the Prix consists in the purchase of a work from the winner, a work then donated to the Centre Pompidou and exhibited in the collections of the Musée national d'art moderne.
It is also worth noting that the Centre Pompidou and the Foundation presented the works of all past winners in the exhibition "Les Archipels réinventés" in 2009 at the Centre Pompidou and "Les Archipels réinventés #2" in 2013 at La Vieille Charité in Marseille . These exhibitions confirms the commitment of the Fondation d'entreprise Ricard, relayed from the beginning by the Centre Pompidou, whose collections also benefit from this close cooperation.
Today, the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard has decided to embark on a new
step by also offering the prize-winner a chance to produce a personal project
abroad (video, performance, installation, etc). “Promoting the renown of young
artists on the international scene, persuading people that beyond our borders
French creative work deserves more attention and interest, this is the sense of
our approach”, underlines Colette Barbier, director of the Fondation d’entreprise
In 2016, Clément Cogitore is the winner of the 18th Prize Fondation d'entreprise Ricard, awarded on the occasion of the exhibition Paris curated by Isabelle Cornaro. Additionally of seeing one of his artworks joining the permanent collections of the Centre Pompidou he will also benefit of an artistic international project.
